In order to better expedite purchases for our Teachers’ Choice Program, new procedures have been put in place.
Ø Parish policy permits that gifts not exceeding $250 in value may be purchased directly by the donor after consultation with the receiving teacher. A letter of thanks will then be forwarded by the teacher to the donor. This letter, combined with the receipt for the gift purchase, will serve as the documentation for any tax deductions that might be available to the donor.
Ø As required by parish policy, all gifts exceeding $250 will require written approval by the principal prior to purchase. It is requested that donors contact the receiving teacher about their interest in making a classroom purchase. The teacher will then seek approval from the principal. Upon approval, the parish purchasing director and development director will work with the donor to purchase the gift. All donations at this level will be included in the end-of-year parish contribution statement, which is mailed to each donor by January 31 of the following year.
Ø Please note that donations through the Teachers’ Choice Program will not offset the $600 contribution requirement that must be met by each family in order to maintain the “in-parish” tuition rate. This contribution requirement is necessary in order to help offset the substantial parish subsidy to the school.
