Friday News October 8, 2021

Dear St. Andrew Parents,

If you have some time, please read this short letter from the U.S. Secretary of Education congratulating our school community on receiving the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

We have a lot going on right now: Andyo, our biggest fundraiser, Trunk or Treat and Candy Drive, and our general Home and School meeting is being held this Thursday. The Home and School General meeting will be “Beyond Closed Doors” and is a presentation from the Bensalem Police Department about how to monitor our children’s bedrooms as they get older. Click here for more information.

Be sure to check out the message below regarding some small changes to the Gospel Message of the Week, upcoming events, and after school programs.

Have a great weekend!

School Information

  • Gospel Message of the Week
    • The goal of the Gospel Message of the week is to drive more conversations in our homes around Mass and our faith. For those families that are not Catholic, we still ask that you discuss this week’s Gospel Message with your family so that your children are prepared for class and may learn more about the Catholic faith.
    • We’ve listened to your suggestions and taken them under advisement. We have changed the Gospel Message of the Week to make it more meaningful for all stakeholders.  The students will still have to answer three questions, but now they will have a choice of six different questions.  They only need to select three!
      • What was the message of this week’s Gospel Reading?
      • What was the message of the homily about this Gospel?
      • How does this pertain to my life and how can I live this message?
      • What stood out to you?
      • What did you learn?
      • What is something new that you heard?
    • Each student received their ANDYO packet this week, which contains 5 ANDYO cards; these cards are NOT valid for play until they are paid for and registered.
      • The purchaser of the ANDYO Bingo card keeps the card; the registration form along with the payment (cash or check made payable to St. Andrew Home and School) needs to be returned to school (attention Megan Pruitt) no later than Friday, October 15.
    • We have several prizes for different categories ie. selling the most ANDYO cards and a grand prize ANDYO game winner. If a student sells all 5 of their cards, he/she will earn a Friday street clothes dress down pass (not able to use when a Class Mass or All School Liturgy is planned).
  • The first Moms’ Booster Club Meeting of the 2021-2022 year will be held on Wednesday, October 13 at 5:30pm. We will be meeting outside at SAS behind the school between the soccer fields and the large playground.  We will be discussing plans for the upcoming school year. Please consider joining us! It’s a great way to meet other moms, get involved, and have some fun!
  • Trunk or Treat Flyer and Registration Form
  • No Super Dollars/Scrip will be sold the week of October 18th.
  • Mother of Mercy Coat Drive Flyer – Now to 10/28.
    • A collection box will be stored in the front of the school. They are looking for new jackets.
