Dear St. Andrew Families,

Blessed Friday and Feast of the Archangels: Michael, Gabriel and Raphael! I hope you had a great week!

A friendly reminder that Monday is Picture Day, and all K-8 students should wear their full winter uniform (sweater too!). Even if they have gym class, they should wear their full winter uniform. If your child is absent Monday, please know they will take make-up pictures on Tuesday and should wear their full winter uniform that day. For Preschool students, please dress them up as you see fit for their picture.

As we continue to monitor attendance, in the month of October, we will be monitoring tardies for students in grades 1-8. Students in grades 1-8 should arrive at school by 8:10am or they will be marked tardy. Four tardies will result in a detention.

Don’t forget to purchase or sell your ANDYO cards if you are interested in playing. You must play to Win! Click here to pay and register your cards. Number drawings will start on Monday.

Last note here, CYO Winter sports registration including basketball, cheerleading and swim clubs closes on October 1, which is Sunday! Please see the winter sport information in the school news below for start and practice schedule information.

School Information

CARES will close 30 minutes early at 5:30 PM next Friday, October 6 to accommodate set up for the two evening events taking place on October 6.
Movie Night is next Friday, October 6. The movie will start a little after 6:30-6:45 PM (sunset). Parents can begin arriving at 5:45 PM at the earliest. You may park at Saint Andrew, Newtown Elementary, or Veterans Park. The movie will end at approximately 8:30 PM. Families are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets, and there will be a small concessions area.
The 7th and 8th Grade Dance will start at 7:00 PM and end at 10:00 PM next Friday, October 6. Students will NOT be able to move back and forth between the dance and Movie Night. Students should be dropped off at the top of the hill to the back.
Our branch of the First National Bank opened this past Wednesday, September 28.

Our next uniform event is scheduled on Monday, October 9 in the Marian Room. Please visit this sign-up to volunteer and help. Students can also help for service hours.

Basketball

In house clinic league for our 2nd and 3rd grade boys and girls on Saturday mornings from January until early March.
4th to 12th grades will begin the season with evaluations in the first week of November. Players must be registered online in advance of the evaluations. All teams at these ages travel to area schools for games and the season continues until March.
Little dribblers skills program for Kindergarten and 1st graders will be a six week program on Saturday mornings 8:30-9:15am starting January 6.
10 week high school girls pick up basketball games Sunday nights 8:00-9:00pm at St. Andrew Gym starting in December.

Cheerleading

This program is open to 1st-5th grade girls who attend St. Andrew School or are members of the parish. Practices will begin in October, and the girls will cheer for some home basketball games December-February. We are in need of a coach for Cheer. Please reach out to Mrs. Grunwell if you are able to share your time and talents.

Regional Swim Team

The swim team practices Wednesday evenings 7:30-8:00 (K-4th) 8:00-9:00pm (5th-8th) at Richboro Swim Club and Sunday afternoons 1:00-1:30pm ( K-4th) and 1:30-2:30pm ( 5th-8th) at The George School.

Repeat School Information

Grades 4-8 Discipline Repeat Note
- Daily emails will be sent home if a student receives a verbal warning, demerit, detention, etc.
- Most of these are centered around dress code or after addressing repeated behaviors that need to improve.
- Please know that after 3 demerits students will be assigned a detention. If a student does not wear a belt, get a haircut, or there is an issue with their uniform, they do need to correct the issue as soon as possible.
- In some cases our younger students could receive a discipline note through FACTS, but typically they will just be shared through the behavior chart from the homeroom teacher.

We are excited to share that all school year long Newtown Pizza (231 N. Attention 5th & 6th Grade Students: Do you enjoy reading? Would you like to join a reading club that meets after school two times a month on Mondays? Would you like to compete with other schools about books that you read? If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, then consider joining the St. Andrew 5th & 6th Grade Reading Olympics Team. Mrs. Hoffman, Mrs. Plomchok, and Mrs. Shadle would love to see you at the team’s next meeting on Monday, October 2 in the library from 3:15-4:15. Between now and then your parents can email Mrs. Hoffman (rhoffman@standrewcec.com) for information on this after school club and how to join the team.

Student Rosary Club
- Students in grades 1-8 are welcome to join us to honor the Blessed Mother. Rosary Club begins Wednesday, October 11 and occurs the second Wednesday of each month right after school-4:00pm.
