Friday News March 1, 2024

Dear St. Andrew Families,

I hope you all had a great week and enjoyed some spring-like weather at the start! Typically, we move to Spring Uniforms right after Easter, but we will confirm this at a later date. Please take advantage of our last Uniform Swap of the school year this Wednesday, March 6 from 4-6pm in the Marian Room. Volunteers are needed to help with our Uniform Swap. Please sign up here.

Our Terra Nova testing which encompasses grades 2-7 began today. Please help to ensure that your children continue to get plenty of rest and nutritious breakfasts as we continue through testing. As a friendly reminder, for convenience and ease of remembrance for families, all school students, regardless of grade-level or testing, are permitted to wear their gym uniforms on the remaining regular testing dates (Monday-Thursday).

Tomorrow, March 2 is our annual Father-Daughter Dance, being held off campus this year. I hope everyone’s dancing shoes are ready!

Being the end of the Trimester, now is the last call for Lost and Found. Any items lost to this point will be donated after March 15.

Today is also the last day to sign up for CYO spring sports: Track and Field (1st-8th), Softball (5th-8th), Baseball (5th-8th), HS Coed Volleyball (9th-12th).

As we look ahead this school year, it is with deep emotion that we reflect on Monsignor Picard’s retirement announcement last weekend. We cannot say enough about the faith and joy that he has instilled here in the Saint Andrew community over the past 35 years. Monsignor means so much to all of us, and I know I speak for everyone in our school community when I say how much we will miss him as pastor and leader at Saint Andrew. We are in extreme gratitude for his incredibly wise pastoral leadership and shepherding over the last few decades. Please join me in praying for Monsignor Picard in his next journey and for his prayer intention for our Saint Andrew community in this upcoming transition.

Blessed first Friday of the month dedicated monthly to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place all our trust in you! Philadelphia-born Saint Katherine Drexel, whose feast day is Sunday, pray for us! Thanks, and have a great weekend!

This spring, fitting Act Now activities will be integrated into our K-8 lessons on healthy peer interactions.

  • Personnel News:
    • We have two new faces in the front office! As many of you know, Mrs. Susan Cunningham is our assistant in the Red Room. In addition to her Red Room role, Mrs. Cunningham will now be working in our front office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Joining Mrs. Cunningham and the front office team is Mrs. Ewa Wilkins who is joining us from Saint Ignatius Parish and will be working on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. As these roles represent the face of the school in so many ways and will be a front point of contact for you, please join us in welcoming both Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Wilkins.

Each player is responsible for 2-3 notes that, when played together, forms a song! No music experience (other than music class) is needed. Rehearsals are on Mondays at the church from 4:30-5:15pm. The group plays for a few 9:00am Masses each year. For more information, or to get your student involved, please contact Miss Sassaman at tonechimes@stapn.org.
