My child is enrolled. What now?
Welcome to the family of Saint Andrew Catholic School. Selecting a new school is a very special and important time in the life of any family. There can be a lot of excitement, but many questions, too. We will try very hard to make your transition a smooth one. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Deb Rachuba, Admissions, at 215-968-2685 ext. 203.
Present through May
Students enrolling in Grades 2 through 8 are invited and encouraged to shadow for a half or full day at Saint Andrew Catholic School. The Shadow Day gives the new student the opportunity to meet students with whom he/she will be in class in the subsequent school year and to see what it is like to be a Saint Andrew student. Please contact Mrs. Denise Cronk at 215-968-2685 ext. 204 to coordinate a Shadow Day for your child.
June through August
Each new family to Saint Andrew Catholic School will be assigned an Ambassador Family. Your Ambassador Family will contact you throughout the summer months via phone and email in order to answer any questions your family might have. Knowing that having a friendly face to look forward to on that first day of school can ease a difficult transition, we encourage our new families and their assigned Ambassador Family to create an opportunity to meet during the summer. If you have not heard from your Ambassador Family by July 31, please contact Mrs. Denise Cronk at 215-968-2685 ext. 204.
August is a very busy month at Saint Andrew Catholic School. In mid-August, class assignments will be posted on FACTS, our school database. Please note, a significant amount of time and energy goes into assigning classes with the spiritual, academic and social success of each student in mind. Once posted, changes will not be made to the class lists. Thank you, in advance, for your understanding of this policy. To access FACTS, visit https://sa-pa.client.renweb.com/pwr/ to set up a New Family Portal Account. If you need help or have any questions, please contact Mrs. Denise Cronk at 215-968-2685 ext. 204.
Also in August, each transportation office of our area school districts relays to us the bus assignments. You will be notified of when these assignments have been received so that you may contact our front office at 215-968-2685 for that information. School uniform information can be accessed using the Flynn & O’Hara portal on the school’s website. The school’s website www.standrewcec.com is also a good resource for information.
Finally, our New Family Welcome event will be held immediately prior to the beginning of the school year. This event is a wonderful opportunity for our newest students and their families to locate their new classrooms, meet other new families and hear about some of the many initiatives and extra-curricular activities available at Saint Andrew Catholic School. Invitations are emailed to each new family at the beginning of August. Please mark your calendar now and keep watch for that invitation.
Many families with students entering Grades 4 – 8 question their child’s admission to our Honors Math program. Saint Andrew Catholic School follows the guidelines presented by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia with regard to admission to this program. The criteria is not arbitrary. Students not meeting this criteria will not be admitted to the program. The criteria is as follows:
- Consistent Terra Nova Math Composite score in the 90th percentile or above
- Consistent Terra Nova Reading Comprehension score in the 80th percentile or above
- Terra Nova Cognitive Skills Index (CSI) in the 125 range
- Consistent report card grade of at least 90 in math
All volunteers must have their clearances. Please visit https://standrewcec.com/community/volunteer-clearances/ to learn what is required and how to obtain clearances.
Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Rachuba 215-968-2685 x203 with further questions or concerns. Make sure to regularly visit our website, www.standrewcec.com, for information and updates throughout the summer.
