Our computer lab is equipped with high-speed internet connected to Dell OptiPlex 7090 11th Generation Intel Core i5 processor computers, numerous printers, a Promethean Titanium Active-Panel, Dell Chromebooks and Apple iPads. We have full internet capabilities from Verizon FIOS at 1GB speed and Wi-Fi which is securely managed by Fortinet Firewall with VPN capabilities.  We have 30 student workstations.  Our Technology teacher is also equipped with A Dell Latitude notebook and a Dell OptiPlex 7090 workstation.

 

Students use computers in the computer lab once a week. In addition, the students in 2nd through eighth grades use Chromebooks on a 1:1 basis. Kindergarten through 1st grade have access to Chromebook and iPad mobile carts. Every teacher has a laptop and printer. Every classroom has an interactive Promethean Titanium 75 inch Active-Panel, full Verizon 1GB high speed internet access and Wi-Fi for the teachers to integrate technology into the curriculum. Each classroom from 2nd to 8th grade have a Chromebook cart with 25-30 units for one-to-one interactive compatibilities. Students can share and project wirelessly their Chromebook screen to the Promethean Panel. Each student has a Google Domain based login and use Google Workspace for Education. Students from 6th through 8th grade also have access to Google Domain based email.  We also have 3D printing capabilities for the students in the upper grades to use during projects.

All students learn about internet safety and digital citizenship, keyboarding, Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and computer programming. Kindergarten through fourth grades focus on word processing, keyboarding skills and internet search. Fifth through eighth grades focus on computer science skills; such as audio, video, graphic design, computer programming and Google Slides, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and MS Office too. Teachers collaborate to integrate other subject matters with technology to create project-based learning. Our curriculum is based on the National Education Technology Standards of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). Saint Andrew Catholic School is a Google Workspace for Education school. Students in grades four through eight collaborate with their teachers and fellow students through Google Apps such as; Classroom, Calendar, Documents and more. https://www.google.com/edu/

Our entire network is monitored 24/7 by Micro Technology Group (MTG) https://www.247tech.com/ and with Malwarebytes Nebula Agent installed on devices.  We also have Technology staff on campus during school hours to help and troubleshoot when needed.
